This was our first year on the brand new ice pad, we had lots of new glass installed, new score clock, new penalty boxes, new entrance doors etc. Plenty of compliments on the renovations completed this past summer.

SPARES (for the playoffs 2011)

Since Day One with our O50 program, we have restricted the use of spares in the playoffs. This is a similar ruling we apply to all of our RA Leagues in order to maintain fairness and control.

However, a large number of our players are guys who've been in the League for many years, and are naturally, now older than they used to be. As well, we see injuries, or guys going away for extended periods of time.

Because we are an O50 program, we need to be sensitive to the fact of having enough bodies to play the game and not put undue stress on a limited number of players.

So, as of this season, the following rules will be implemented regarding Spares and the Playoffs:

1 - Teams may use a player(s) from within their own division only, now known as the spare. Non-League players are ineligible to spare.

2 - The spare must be a player listed no higher than 31st in the overall division standings. See website http://www.rahockeyleague.com/leagues/pick_league.cfm?leagueID=1128&clientID=603

3 - The spare can only play once throughout the playoffs.

4 - Teams may only use enough spares to bring their team complement up to 8 players.

(*Note, for the Friday League, Gord McKenny is ineligible to spare in the playoffs. He will be considered a regular for the Red team, but due to the circumstances involving his participation this year, he's ineligible in a spare capacity).
